Welcome.

My name is Jen (she/they). I am a Certified Rolfer®, community organizer, and ritual officiant building home on Nipmuc and Pocumtuc land, now Northampton, Massachusetts.

I started Jen Wenz Somatics to support people who are ready to make a change. One of my greatest joys in life is accompanying folks as they discover what they’re longing for and learn new ways to relate to themselves, their bodies, and the world.

I am a long-time student of embodiment, fascinated by the body, how it works, and how it moves. Throughout my life, I have been an athlete, dancer, musician, and outdoor adventurer. My recovery from sports injuries and trauma led me, through many different modalities, to Rolfing®.

I have been shaped by over a decade of body-based spiritual and healing practices, including Buddhist and Jewish meditation, embodied Jewish ritual practice, Ashtanga and Anusara yoga, generative somatics/Strozzi Institute Somatics, Somatic Experiencing, and Internal Family Systems. I share this formation with deep gratitude to my teachers and my communities of practice.

Alongside the work of Jen Wenz Somatics (JWS), I live out my commitment to a just transition as a community organizer, including past and present work in faith-based organizing, food justice, anti-racism, wealth redistribution, and reparations. This work grounds me in a larger vision of what’s possible in our communities as I support individuals in their healing and growth. I seek to align JWS with this vision by: moving a portion of all profits to the Hassanamisco Nipmuc Band as part of Western MA SURJ’s reparations campaign and to BIPOC-led organizing and thriving in our region; making an alliance with People of Color in their healing work; providing LGBTQ+ competent care; and offering reduced-rate sessions to clients who otherwise could not access Rolfing.

I am resourced by the essential joys of a winter cross-country ski, a spring hike, a summer bike ride, and a fall run; dancing in the kitchen, singing around a table, and gathering community alongside my wife; and my blood and spiritual ancestors: simple church Brethren, Ashkenazi Jews, the trees and rivers of northern New England, the rocky coast of midcoast Maine, and the cornfields of southwest Ohio.
